Ryan was with Gifty Louise and Four Of Diamonds in the bottom three.

Prior to the vote being announced, viewers tweeted they hoped Ryan would not be saved again.

One wrote: “If ryan survives the lifeline vote again then I'm gonna be fuming.”

Another tweeted: “I stg if Ryan gets saved by that lifeline vote again I'll be pissed.”

However, Ryan was saved by the twist - which was announced at the beginning of the series - and he went through to week ten of the live shows.

Ryan has found himself in the bottom three of the competition repeatedly but X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman thinks there is only one solution: his girlfriend Emily Middlemas has to leave.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Brian said:  “I feel like they’re each other’s support systems throughout this, so I definitely feel like their confidence is stronger because they have each other.

“If they’re alone they would have to really rise to the occasion and step up the plate and that would do both of them good to not have any distraction, and to really fight for it.”

And while Brian says the pair who have been together for eight months don’t distract one another during X Factor dance rehearsals with him, he does make sure there’s no “Romeo and Juliet moments” during the ensemble performance.

“In ensemble performances I keep them on opposite parts of the stage as I don’t want to promote the fact that they are dating.

“I don’t want to have any Romeo and Juliet moments with them.”

Amid rumours that Sam Lavery and Nathan Lewis are also dating, Brian says he “wouldn’t be surprised” if there were other couples.

“I heard Sam and Nathan weren’t real, but I wouldn’t be surprised about any of the others.

“They’re teenagers and they’re living in a house together and they’re away from everyone else, so you have a special bond with someone when you go through this experience, so it’s only natural that you’d get together.

“I have absolutely not been playing cupid though. I stay away from all that teenage drama, I have bigger fish to fry.”
