“If they’re alone they would have to really rise to the occasion and step up the plate and that would do both of them good to not have any distraction, and to really fight for it.”

And while Brian says the pair who have been together for eight months don’t distract one another during X Factor dance rehearsals with him, he does make sure there’s no “Romeo and Juliet moments” during the ensemble performance.

The pair are very much in love

“In ensemble performances I keep them on opposite parts of the stage as I don’t want to promote the fact that they are dating.

“I don’t want to have any Romeo and Juliet moments with them.”

Amid rumours that Sam Lavery and Nathan Lewis are also dating, Brian says he “wouldn’t be surprised” if there were other couples.

“I heard Sam and Nathan weren’t real, but I wouldn’t be surprised about any of the others.

“They’re teenagers and they’re living in a house together and they’re away from everyone else, so you have a special bond with someone when you go through this experience, so it’s only natural that you’d get together.

“I have absolutely not been playing cupid though. I stay away from all that teenage drama, I have bigger fish to fry.”
