X Factor has eliminated its fourth act Gifty Louise, and her mentor Simon Cowell admits he is to blame.
The singer was in the sing off with girl group Four of Diamonds who were saved by Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne - and almost by her mentor Simon Cowell, after he accidentally said the wrong act.
When Dermot O’Leary asked her what happened, the dejected contestant simply said: “I don’t know.”
But Simon accepted responsibility for her early exit and said he shouldn’t have given her an unknown Fifth Harmony Song, In Love With a Monster.
He said: “I’ll tell you what happened, it was my mistake Gifty, I should never have given you this song, and you shouldn’t be out of this competition at this point. It was not you it was me.”
He later told Rylan Clarke on The Xtra Factor: “I think it was a mistake with the song I chose, it happens and I felt bad, it was a mistake.
“But you can beat yourself up, but you have to use this opportunity in a positive way.”
This wasn't the only mistake Simon made by Gifty, as she and Four of Diamonds prepared to hear who would be saved, Simon was asked to name the act he wished to send home.
As he talked to Gifty, who he’s mentored throughout the competition, Simon praised her performance before naming her as the act he wanted to send home.
The audience gasped as the words left Simon’s mouth, with Gifty looking stunned at his decision.
The music mogul was quick to realise his mistake however and quickly said: “No, I’ve made a mistake.”
