The Walking Dead viewers gush about potential Carol and King Ezekiel romance following eccentric character’s first appearance

THE Walking Dead may have been slightly less bloody during episode 2 of season 7, but it also had some fans pleading for a bit of romping after the introduction of quirky King Ezekiel and his pet tiger.

Fans seemed to momentarily forget about Daryl and gush about the "chemistry" between the eccentric leader and Carol Peletier.

The episode saw the debut of Ezekiel and Shiva, his big cat, after Carol and Morgan are escorted into the safe haven of The Kingdom.

They met the odd pair in an empty theatre, with the host announcing any friend of Morgan’s was “a friend of the realm” and was welcome to anything she wanted.

Carol joked all she wanted was rest, before explaining her disbelief to Morgan once the pair were alone again.

“You’re s***ing me, right? This place is a damn circus!” she raged, intending to escape the second her companion wasn’t looking.

Throughout the episode, further details of Ezekiel’s Kingdom, how he came to lead the community and how he came to be Shiva’s master were also revealed.

After Carol branded the monarch a joke, Ezekiel responded with surprising honesty.

During the candid chat, he suggested the people needed someone who could lead and he simply “acted the part.”

Their easy camaraderie and banter seemed to get fans excited about what could develop between the two.

One fan quickly tweeted: "The Carol and Ezekiel shipping starts right now....."

One gushed: "Omg I would love it if Ezekiel and Carol would get together."

But other fans were less enthusiastic and remembered poor ol' captive Daryl.

One viewer tweeted: "no! Caryl forever".

Another agreed and attached an image of Daryl crying.

Some fans, however, had branded the episode "boring" after the gruesome season premiere.

While viewers had been left outraged by the shocking violence they had also been desperate for more.

“This episode of the walking dead is boring me rn,” wrote one viewer.

While another remarked: “The walking dead always has a wicked boring episode the week after a crazy one.”

Others were rather dramatic about it, with one person claiming: “Okay honestly this episode of the walking dead is so stoooopid and boring it makes me want to throw myself off of a bridge.”

The first episode had seen evil Negan, leader of the Saviors, bash Glenn Rhee's head in with his baseball bat Lucille. Lovely.

Episode three is set to focus more on Daryl, who appears to be a shadow of his former self in the promo.
