X Factor’s Ryan Lawrie has bag stolen in street while trying to help an old lady

The star was with 5 After Midnight's Kieran Alleyne when the incident happened

X Factor star Ryan Lawrie had his bag stolen this morning while trying to help an old lady.

The 20-year-old’s plastic bag was snatched by a robber while he and 5 After Midnight's Kieran Alleyne stopped to help a fragile old lady who had taken a tumble in the street.

Taking to his Twitter account, Kieran uploaded a photo of him and Ryan in a taxi and accompanied it with the caption: "Morning outings with @RyanLawrie_ we helped an old lady who fell down in the street! But then Ryan got his bag robbed crazy morning!! (sic)"

However later altered the wording slightly, so as not to suggest it was taken by force: "Someone took Ryan's bag from the floor tho :("

He added: "He didn't get mugged tho someone just took it off the floor @RyanLawrie_"

Ryan has not commented on the incident directly but did appear upset as he tweeted: "I don't know anymore."

Commenting on the incident, an X Factor spokesperson said:  "Ryan was out shopping with Kieran, rushed over to help an elderly lady who had fallen over and left a carrier bag of toiletries on the floor and a passer by picked it up. He hasn't been hurt and is absolutely fine."

The hasn't had the easiest of time on the show so far as he's found himself in the bottom three for the third week in a row.

After last weekend's show concluded, he wrote: "I'm gonna be honest here. I don't get the votes from the older generation...but I sure as hell get them from all of you beautiful people!!"

He then followed it up by admitting that he knows he's not the "strongest" performer in the competition but he's got a real drive for music.

He said in a lengthy post online: "I am NOT the strongest singer and I know that I'm probably (most likely) not going to win, but what I can say is i am a human being with a dream and I am trying to make it a reality.

“For those who have just got to know me on The X Factor. I am not just some boy who jumps around is trying to become 'famous'. I am here for a reason and that reason is to make a career in music. I am a songwriter. That is my first love and my main passion. I am a loving and genuine boy. (sic)"
