Cheryl announced as the new face of Childline as the charity celebrates 30th anniversary
CHERYL has been announced as the new face of Childline to mark the charity's 30th anniversary.
The news comes after The Sun exclusively revealed Cheryl would front an emotional ad campaign for the charity NSPCC.
In the campaign shots, Cheryl, 33, who is rumoured to be expecting her first child with boyfriend Liam Payne, poses in a bright blue tshirt with the Childline logo as her shiny brunette locks cascading down her shoulders.
Cheryl is then pictured wearing the famous baggy grey jumper that fuelled speculation she is pregnant.
One shot shows her sitting in a school chair in a gym hall as she stares into the distance through the director's camera as she films the TV ad.
In another a solo Cheryl cuts a lonely figure as she sits alone in the middle of the hall.
Speaking about the campaign, Cheryl said: "Life can be hard sometimes, especially whilst you're growing up, and everyone deserves someone to talk to and help make sense of it all.
"No young person should ever feel afraid, confused or alone so if that's how you are feeling then please get in touch with them (Childline) by phone or online."

"As a teenager I was aware of Childline, but like so many others I mistakenly thought it was just for young kids.
"The reality is that it doesn't matter whether you are at primary, secondary school or college, or how big or small your problem is, Childline is there for you."
It's believed Cheryl will be discussing the campaign when she appears on The One Show tonight.
If Cheryl goes into the studio live, it will be her first televised interview in months as she's kept a low profile amid the pregnancy rumours, even missing the Pride Of Britain Awards on Monday night.
A source recently told The Sun what her campaign will entail.
The moving commercials will see Cheryl sat on a stool and giving a speech — but not in her usual Geordie tones.
Instead viewers will hear the sound of various Childline callers which she will lipsync over, including one who has been sexually abused, and another who is worried about coming out to his parents.
A source said: “The adverts are sure to get a lot of people talking.
“They’re very emotive and there’s no gimmicks. Cheryl was delighted to be asked to take part in the ads as it’s a cause very close to her heart.”
She joins a long line of celebrities to back the charity including her former boss Simon Cowell.
Peter Wanless, CEO of the NSPCC, said: "Welcoming Cheryl as the new face of Childline is an absolutely fantastic way for the service to mark 30 years of helping children and young people.
"Through her support we will be able to reach a lot of young people who previously weren't aware of Childline or perhaps thought that they were either too old or that their problem was not serious enough to warrant seeking help."
Dame Esther Rantzen, current president and founder of Childline, added: "We are really excited at the awareness that Cheryl will bring to the service, and in particular how she will enable us reach out to even more desperately unhappy young people with nowhere else to turn.
"She fully understands the new dangers young people face today such as sexting and cyber-bullying.
"The reality is that whatever the age or the problem Childline is a free, confidential helpline for any young person - a message that Cheryl will help us take to a whole new audience now that she has joined the team."
Meanwhile her former Girls Aloud bandmate, Kimberley Walsh stayed tight lipped over the rumours that Cheryl is expecting while walking the red carpet at the annual event.
Speaking to, who host the awards bash, Kimberley said: “It’s not that I’m not allowed [to talk about it]. It’s just that she’s my best friend. I don’t want to talk about her … anyway.”
When the reporter asked her to pass on their congratulations to Cheryl, she said: “Thank you.”
Kimberley’s comments comes after she said she’s “really happy” for her close pal.
The speculation surrounding Cheryl’s pregnancy went into overdrive last week when we exclusively revealed unseen shots of the star with what looked like a very sizeable bump.
