‘Pregnant’ Cheryl appears on The One Show to speak about new role at Childline
The 33-year-old was recently revealed as the new face of the charity
CHERYL appeared on The One Show today to speak about her new role at Childline.
The 33-year-old, who is rumoured to be pregnant with Liam Payne's baby, has recently been announced as the new face of the charity as it celebrates 30th anniversary.
Her appearance in the studio was her first televised interview in months after keeping a low profile amid the pregnancy rumours, even missing the Pride Of Britain Awards on Monday night.
Speaking about the charity, she said: "Kids just don’t have the courage to talk to someone.
"I was just a general worrier, it’s in my nature, I would worry about the world, I’d worry sick if I saw something on the news. I was quite a depressed teenager to be honest, I didn’t enjoy them at all. Worried about exams, everything. I worried I was going to be failure."
Cheryl was appeared on the sofa alongside Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Esther Rantzen DBE, who launched the charity in 1986.
She added that she could "completely relate to how [the children] are feeling": "Newcastle is my heart, it’s where I’m from. I want to help young people, the next generation, to have hope, have opportunity. I have a centre that is going to help 4000 people per year."
The singer said: "It breaks my heart to think that you’re in that much pain that you turn to harming yourself as a release. It’s a massive, massive problem."
In the campaign shots, Cheryl, who is rumoured to be expecting her first child with boyfriend Liam Payne, poses in a bright blue tshirt with the Childline logo as her shiny brunette locks cascading down her shoulders.
Cheryl was later pictured wearing the famous baggy grey jumper that fuelled speculation she is pregnant.
The news that Cheryl would be the new face of Childline came after The Sun exclusively revealed Cheryl would front an emotional ad campaign for the charity NSPCC.
She has continued to leave fans guessing as to whether or not sure is expecting.
Last week she added fuel to the fire as she went to great lengths not to be photographed while attending a top secret signing for her new perfume Storm Flower at a London hotel.
Fans – who chatted exclusively to The Sun Online after the meeting – described her as "glowing" as they remarked on her appearance amid growing speculation about her reported pregnancy.
Pals of the pair have remained tight-lipped, including Kimberley Walsh who remained coy about her friend's rumoured pregnancy at the Pride of Britain awards earlier this week. However she vaguely said that she was "really happy" for Cheryl while talking to TV Life late last month.
Cheryl’s close friend Simon Cowell recently gushed about how great she would be as a mother and dropped a pretty big hint they were trying for a baby.
He said: "Cheryl would be an amazing mum. I have seen her with my son Eric and other kids over the years and she is incredible. She is very good with them. I think she is in a good place in her life right now."
And when asked if she and Liam were trying, he said: "I guess that is what happens when you are with someone."
