Cheryl reveals she was a ‘depressed teenager’ during appearance on The One Show
Singer - who is believed to be expecting her first child - opened up about her own childhood
CHERYL has revealed she suffered from depression as a teenager.
The 33-year-old appeared on The One Show on Wednesday to discuss her new role as the face of Childline alongside the charity's founder, Esther Rantzen.
Opening up about why she wanted to be involved with the organisation, which has been going for 30 years, Cheryl explained how she had struggled as a teen and could fully empathise with today's youth.
She said: "I was just a general worrier, it’s in my nature, I would worry about the world, I’d worry sick if I saw something on the news.
"I was actually quite a depressed teenager to be honest, I didn’t enjoy my teenage years at all. I found them really tough."

Hosts Matt Baker and Alex Jones asked the former Girls Aloud singer what had made her so down, and she explained how it was the fear of failure at school which was at the heart of her unhappiness.
She continued: "The stress, the pressure of going home and your parents wanting you to do well in your exams, your school wanting you to do well in your exams, you feeling like you’re going to be a failure if you don’t.
"Hormones play a huge part in your teenage years on how you feel, I would not go back to my teenage years for love nor money, not a chance."
Thankfully Cheryl doesn't need the love nor the money, as she is happy in her relationship with former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 23.
The couple have been together since December last year and have been dogged by rumours Cheryl is currently pregnant with their first child.
While the star was glowing on the sofa as she chatted about her latest role, she kept her hands clasped in front of her stomach throughout much of the interview, and failed to confirm if the speculation was true.
