EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison claims she’s replaced Lindsay Lohan to switch on Kettering Christmas lights
MP Philip Hollobone has spoken out after actress Cheryl Fergison claimed she'd replaced the star
RESIDENTS of Kettering are still hopeful Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan will honour her promise to switch on their Christmas lights.
Member of Parliament for the Kettering Constituency, Philip Hollobone, has spoken exclusively to The Sun Online following fresh reports Lindsay has been replaced by EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison.
Lindsay originally agreed to travel to Kettering earlier this year after claiming nobody had heard of the Northamptonshire town during a Brexit outburst on Twitter.
She was invited down by the town’s Conservative MP Philip and later tweeted she’d “be happy to light the Christmas tree in #Kettering.”
However, the actress behind EastEnders iconic character Heather Trott has since claimed she’s taking over the festive duties on November 24.
Cheryl tweeted on Tuesday: “Sorry 2 disappoint some folks but I'm not Lindsay Lohan! but I am going 2 b switching on Kettering Xmas lights .. The party starts here.”
In response to the Twitter storm Cheryl’s post prompted, the MP has revealed this isn’t quite the truth.
Philip tells The Sun Online: “Rumours that communication with Lindsay Lohan has broken down is completely unfounded.
"The actual situation is that Kettering Borough Council, which organizes the Christmas lights switch on has asked the cast of 'Beauty and the Beast', who are performing the panto at the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering to attend the Christmas Lights switch on.
“The cast includes ex-EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison.

“The plan is that they will also be on stage at the same time as Lindsay Lohan to watch Lindsay Lohan switch on the lights.
“It is quite normal for there to be a variety of people on stage, after all, it is a fun-packed family event.
“My position and Kettering Borough Council’s position remains that the invitation to Lindsay is still very much open.
“Lindsay is very welcome to attend and we understand that Lindsay’s team is still looking to see if they can make it work.”
