At first, hunky Matt is fast asleep with the sheets only covering his thighs.

He then rises from his bed as a fully-clothed gentleman enters through some curtains.

Talking of the racy moments in the Netflix series, he said: "That was actually the best bit of acting I did in the whole thing.

"No word of a lie, it's my most truthful moment."

Matt stars alongside Claire Foy, who takes on the role of current UK monarch Queen Elizabeth I.

He insisted the starkers seen were an accurate depiction of the queen's husband, The Duke of Edinburgh, who allegedly sleeps in the nude.

"Is it not better that the king sees him and goes 'oh no', and then they've got to go and shoot ducks together?"

Netflix has released a trailer for the programme set against the backdrop of the Second World War.

The 10 episodes will see a young Queen Elizabeth divided between her family loyalties and duties as a monarch.

In the trailer, Prince Phillip says: "Might I suggest not being head of church for a minute, or head of state. Or the army, or the navy, or the government, or the fount of justice, or the whole damn circus frankly."

She asks: "Or be what?"

He replies: "A living breathing thing.

"A woman, a sister, a daughter, a wife."

The show will premiere exclusively on Netflix tonight.
