Zayn Malik is launching an acting career with a starring role in new boyband themed TV drama
The former One Direction star is branching out and launching an acting career after successful solo music career
ZAYN MALIK failed to win from his first solo MTV EMAs nomination last night, but he will soon be eyeing up Emmy and Golden Globe nods instead.
Earlier this year I revealed how Zayn had signed a deal with NBC to be the executive producer on a new TV drama about a boy band, called Boys.
Now I’ve learned that the singer will star in the series, too.
A source said: “Zayn has started talks with his fellow producers about him appearing in a couple of episodes of Boys.
“He is really keen to kick of his acting career and sees this as the perfect opportunity to do so, especially as he will have a lot of creative control.
“However the discussions are still ongoing and there is still a chance he may just play himself in the show.
“Either way he is taking his role as exec producer very seriously and sees this as a big stepping stone to working more on TV and film in the future.”
Zayn had his acting dreams cut short after shooting to fame in ONE DIRECTION on the X Factor in 2010.
The star had trained as an actor at school, where he studied theatre studies, before music took over his life.
He said previously: “The acting completely stopped because I joined the band, but I’d definitely be interested if I was given the right part.”
Now he can write the theme tune, sing the theme tune and do everything else in one.
