X FACTOR winner Ben Haenow has announced his engagement to girlfriend Jessica Jones after eight years together.

The 31-year-old singer shared an adorable black and white picture holding Jessica’s hand with a diamond ring on her finger on Sunday evening.

Ben, who won The X Factor in 2014, has publicly promised to propose on numerous occasions.

The pair have previously opened up about how Ben's rise to fame put pressure on their relationship.

Jess, a dance teacher from South East London, recently told: "There was the madness of X Factor but now it has just felt like nothing has really changed."

During his first audition on the ITV show, Ben first opened up about his intentions to pop the question one day.

After taking to the stage, Simon Cowell asked: "Tell us a bit more about you. Are you married? Single?"

Ben responded: "Yeah I’ve got a long-term girlfriend. We’re looking to get married sometime soon."

Backstage Jess could been seen looking somewhat shocked as she mouthed: "Are we?"
