A-List megastar cancels film plans to attend King Charles’ Coronation in May
HE is a notorious perfectionist when it comes to work, so not much gets in the way of Tom Cruise and his films.
Unless, that is, you’re a member of the Royal Family.
Those close to the Hollywood superstar tell me he is putting a stop to filming on the eighth instalment of spy franchise Mission: Impossible to attend the Coronation on May 6.
A source said: “Tom has been invited to King Charles’ Coronation and there is no way he would have ever turned it down.
“It is a hugely prestigious event and Tom is a real royalist — plus he is now close with Prince William and Kate. Tom has told film bosses to shut down the production on Mission: Impossible over the Coronation weekend to make sure he can attend.
“It shocked some people on the film, as Tom is so dedicated to his craft and would never normally deviate from his intense production schedules.

'A huge thing for Tom’
“But something as important — and grand — as King Charles’s Coronation is something he would not want to miss out on.
“It is a huge thing for Tom to be invited and he is honoured.”
I previously revealed how Tom had grown so close to Wills and Kate that he had treated them to an advanced screening of Top Gun: Maverick.
They were given a world-first preview of the film last March and the trio rubbed shoulders at the star-studded premiere in London two months later.

Insiders said the three are now so close that Rain Man star Tom has even added them to his famous Christmas gift list.
Those lucky enough to be on the list are treated to Tom’s favourite coconut cake from a bakery in LA, and in December I confirmed that Wills and Kate had received a portion of the sweet treat for the first time after their friendship blossomed.
Given that Tom is now on the VIP guest list for the Coronation, I assume it won’t be long until Charles and his wife Camilla are treated to a portion of the £38 cake themselves.
Cam-on-in the water's lovely
CAMERON Diaz looked the business in a chic suit for her new Netflix film Back In Action.
My exclusive photos show the Hollywood beauty filming in London with co-star Jamie Foxx over the past few days.
As well as stuntmen driving speed boats along the Thames, Cameron and Jamie were snapped filming scenes where they attended a red carpet bash with hundreds of other people at the Tate Modern.
And it seems the pair will remain in the capital for the foreseeable future, with residents living around Royal Victoria Dock warned about a huge stunt taking place next month.
A letter to locals revealed that the production would be staging two major stunts.
They said one of the spectacles involved a “stunt person riding a motorbike from Docklands London on to a barge and up a ramp before landing in the water”.
The second is a “30ft explosion” which will go off in the middle of the dock – with residents treated to front row seats to the action.
Cameron was cast in the project last year – coming out of an eight-year break from acting, which many believed was a permanent retirement.
It is the third time Cameron has worked with Jamie, after the pair previously starred in Any Given Day in 1999 before working on the movie remake of Annie in 2014.
Jamie announced he had managed to bring Cameron on board last June, getting NFL star Tom Brady to help persuade her to take part in the film.
Bey’s dates are five-hour sellout
BEYONCE sold more than 400,000 tickets in five hours yesterday as fans clamoured to get access to her Renaissance Tour.
The Cuff It singer, who hasn’t performed a solo tour here since 2016, added three more dates at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the first two gigs sold out.
When tickets first went on sale at 10am, more than half a million people were in an online queue.
Shows in Cardiff, Sunderland and Edinburgh quickly sold out, except for pricey VIP packages.
The unprecedented demand made it the fastest-selling tour here in years.
The massive capacity of the tour’s stadiums means she even outsold Madonna's Celebration tour, which was also met with a huge rush for tickets when they went on sale last month.
Beyonce, who became the biggest Grammy winner in history on Sunday when she took her total awards to 32, will kick off the tour in Stockholm in May.
She will arrive in the UK a week later, with her five nights in London running from May 29 to June 4.
But Destiny's Child fans were left with a tough choice, as her fourth show in North London on June 3 is on the same day Kelly Rowland's headline set at South London’s Mighty Hoopla.
That’s quite the dilemma.
Mick: End of the Mac
MICK Fleetwood believes Fleetwood Mac are “done” following the death of bandmate Christine McVie.
She died in November following a brief illness and now the rock veteran has admitted he cannot see the band continuing.
Mick said: “I think right now, I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris. I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before.
“It’s sort of unthinkable right now.”
Due and Tove in cahoots
DUA Lipa is sharing her star power with Tove Lo.
The Future Nostalgia hitmaker has co-written Tove’s new single Borderline – out Friday.
Dua said of working on the track: “I’m so excited for it to come out into the world.”
Future Nostalgia turned Dua into a global icon.
If Borderline does half as well then Swedish star Tove is on to a winner.
Ellie's out on the brown
IF this lady bumped into me in the street, I’d have to admit I would have no idea who she was.
But it’s actually Ellie Goulding, who has dyed her famous blonde locks and got a fringe, for a wildly different look.
She showed off the new hairstyle during a visit to Radio 2 in London, ahead of the first of two special shows that she performed in the capital last night.
The Burn singer took to the stage at nightspot Koko to debut songs from her fifth album Higher Than Heaven, which will be out on March 24.
It had been due for release last Friday, but Ellie delayed the record to make tweaks, including the addition of a Calvin Harris collaboration.
I’ll wait to see whether it’s been worth the delay.
Thorny subject Maisie?
MAISIE Peters has more than just a thorn in her side in her new music video – she’s covered in them.
The Brit singer-songwriter premiered the visuals to her latest single, Body Better, last night and my exclusive still from the clip shows her looking more than a bit prickly.
Maisie, who released her debut album You Signed Up For This in 2021, through Ed Sheeran's record label Gingerbread Man, is gearing up to go on a sold- out tour in April.
Then she is expected to drop her as-yet-untitled second album, featuring the new single, later in the year.
Demi's slasher single
DEMI Lovato has come up with a scarily ambitious way to get back into the charts.
I can reveal that the former Disney star has recorded the lead single for the soundtrack to upcoming horror Scream VI.
The single is called Still Alive and is due out in the next few weeks, ahead of the film’s release on March 10.
Demi will no doubt be hoping the track returns her to form, given that none of the singles from her 2022 album Holy Fvck troubled the charts in the UK.
Lady Gaga and Rihanna have appeared on blockbuster soundtracks in the past year – and both landed Best Original Song Oscar nominations.
Still Alive will have to be a real belter for Demi to repeat that success.
Claire steps up solo bid
STEPS star Claire Richards is going solo again after the success of her stint on The Masked Singer.
Claire, who was unmasked as Knitting on Saturday, said: “The Masked Singer definitely made me want to do more solo music.

“I’m working on an album at the moment. So hopefully that will be out at some point this year and I’m doing gigs on my own all summer.
“Steps are having a break at the moment so I am working on music as we speak.”
