Channel 4 confirmed the news to The Sun Online and hinted she may never go back on the show – which she joined with her parents Mark and Betty in 2014.

A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed the news and said: “Scarlett Moffatt is going in to I’m a Celebrity and will no longer participate in this series of Gogglebox.

“The show’s producers have not had any conversations with Scarlett about leaving or returning to Gogglebox after her stint in the Jungle.

“The Moffatts have been excellent contributors to Gogglebox, and we are very grateful for all they have given to the show.”

On Sunday evening, Scarlett touched down in Australia for the start of the show on 13 November.

Former Gogglebox star George Gilbey was forced to quit when he took part in Celebrity Big Brother 2014.

Producer Chantal Boyle said at the time: “They are pretty cash-strapped and so you can see why they would accept the offer to go on Big Brother.

“But we can’t have them in the new series of Gogglebox.”

She also said it “wouldn’t work” for George to come back to the show after he had appeared on Channel 5.

With Scarlett leaving, Gogglebox appears to be in crisis as Steph and Dom and Sandy and Sandra are also set to walk away from the show.

Arriving at the airport, Scarlett appeared to be making the most of her last days of freedom and beamed as she arrived in a floral shirt.

She will be joined by Strictly star Ola Jordan, actor Larry Lamb, Carol Vorderman and Lisa Snowdon amongst others in the latest series – and already has some firm fans in presenters Ant and Dec.

The Sun exclusively revealed that the Geordie duo have already backed the Gogglebox star to win – with Ant wanting her in on his 41st birthday party knees-up.

Declan told The Sun: “Yes. Another Geordie could be going in…that’s what the rumours are saying.

“When you just see names and faces on a piece of paper it’s really difficult. It’s when you see them in the flesh that’s when you really get a sense of it.”

Scarlett was the fifth celebrity arrival for the show, joining Diversity star Jordan Banjo, Olympian Sam Quek and comedian Joel Dommett.

She leaves behind her boyfriend Luke Crodden in order to complete her stint in the jungle - and gushed about missing her "ginger biscuit" after spending just a week apart in October.
