Who are Vaults? The band performing One Day I’ll Fly Away on the John Lewis 2016 Christmas advert
JOHN Lewis's much-anticipated Christmas advert has finally been revealed, and this time it features a six-year-old named Bridget who gets a present of a trampoline — and a dog named Buster who's even more excited about the gift than she is.
The sweet two-minute story is set to a cover of Randy Crawford's 1980 jazz hit One Day I'll Fly Away, by English band Vaults.
They follow in the footsteps of Gabrielle Aplin, Lily Allen and Tom Odell, whose music has been used for past versions of the iconic ads.
Here's what we know about Vaults.
Who are Vaults?
Vaults are an electronica trio from south London, made up of Blythe Pepino, Barney Freeman and Ben Vella.
They formed in 2013 and posted their first track, Cry No More, to Soundcloud, whether it was played 100,000 times within a week.
In 2014 they released their debut single, Premonitions, through an independent record label.
Later that year they signed to Virgin EMI – the same record label as Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Paul McCartney.
They've released two EPs and several more singles, but their debut album was postponed after Ben was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2015.
Fortunately he's since been given the all-clear, and the band recently announced their album Caught in Still Life will come out on December 2, 2016.
Despite the fact they haven't released an album, Vaults' videos have been viewed tens of millions of times on YouTube.
Famous fans of Vaults include Bastille, Ellie Goulding and Alt-J.
What’s their best-known song?
Vaults are known for One Last Night, which featured in the soundtrack for Hollywood blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015.
