Zayn Malik in tense exchange with female companion after girlfriend Gigi Hadid praises his solo career

Zayn didn't look pleased during what appeared to be a heated exchange

ZAYN Malik did not look impressed when he had a tense exchange with a female companion in a car park in Beverly Hills.

The former One Direction star is believed to have been with a member of his team at the Peninsula Hotel in LA and it looked like he was not happy as they chatted outside.

The singer went for a casual look of jeans and a slogan tshirt, which he layered with a blue and white checked shirt.

Perhaps giving a glimpse of his mood, his tshirt read: "I'm having a nice day, don't screw it up".

The rolled up sleeves gave a glimpse of the numerous inkings on his arms.

He topped off his look with black Chelsea boots and accessorised with his usual necklace, gold bracelets and rings.

Zayn's trip to LA comes after his girlfriend Gigi Hadid revealed she didn't like One Direction's music.

The 21-year-old supermodel made the revelation during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live in the US on Wednesday night.

As the late night talk show host probed her about her relationship, she said:"I grew up in a household that, my stepdad was a kind of classical music producer, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, so that was the music that I was into.

"I mean, I think we all can name a One Direction song that we like, but, um, maybe not. But I love Zayn Malik solo a lot more."

While her other half's boy band background might not be her taste, she later featured with him in his video for first solo single Pillowtalk.

Their less-than-ceremonious split became the inspiration behind the girl band's latest hit 'Shout Out To My Ex' - a scathing attack on the men who scorned the former X Factor ladies.

Meanwhile Zayn, 23, also admitted that he isn't the biggest fan of his history in the group either - and wishes he had more time to be "anonymous".

The former One Direction star, who left the band in March 2015, revealed that given the opportunity to go back in time to 2010, he would tell his 17-year-old self not to sign up to the show that would make him famous.

Zayn explained: “‘I was very ignorant at 17 — blind beyond my years. I thought going on X Factor meant you won a million pounds and got a contract at the end of it.

When asked what he would tell your old self, he continued: “Don’t do it…I would say, ‘Do your research and be a bit more prepared about certain situations before you make a decision.’ ”

Zayn stressed that he was grateful for all that The X Factor gave him but if he could travel back in time then he might have made a different decision.

He explained: “But I probably wouldn’t have [signed] — I would’ve waited a couple more extra years. Just so I had that time to just get my head around being a famous person.

"I’ve never been able to have, what’s the word? Anonymity. If I could go back, I’d have a few more years of anonymity.”
