Bucks Fizz star reveals the real reason why the group broke up

FAMED 1980s pop group Bucks Fizz broke up when the male stars came to blows.

Singer Mike Nolan says he quit in 1996 after Bobby G, 69, pushed him over a coffee table.

Relations were strained after original female vocalists, Jay Aston and Cheryl Baker left the band.

Mike, 68, said: “One night, I had a massive, massive row with Bobby and he went for me.

“I decided, ‘I can’t work with him.’ I quit the band. I don’t like being pushed around.”

Singers Heidi Manton and Amanda Swarzc were brought in as replacements but Mike fell out with them and quit.

Heidi later married Bobby, born Robert Gubby, and acquired the legal rights to the name ‘Bucks Fizz.’

Pop star Mike spoke out ahead of the delayed concert at the Indigo in Greenwich, London, on March 31 to celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary.

Bucks Fizz shot to fame after winning the 1981 Eurovision song contest with the ‘Making Your Mind Up’ single, which later became a number one hit.

Mike, Cheryl and Jay reunited in 2004 but now tour as The Fizz.
