Tearful viewers demand top honour for Mary Berry after she opens up about her tragic life in documentary

Tearful Mary Berry fans have called for the former Great British Bake Off judge to be made a Dame.
The 81-year-old appeared in the second episode of a two-part documentary about her life, called The Mary Berry Story on Friday evening.
And for many fans of the legendary TV cook and baker, seeing how much she had achieved during her career led many to demand she receive the highest Royal honour.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: "#themaryberrystory why isn't she a dame? A British icon", and another agreed, writing: "Loved this programme she should be Dame Mary Berry #TheMaryBerryStory".
Others were taken aback by the personal heartache Mary had been through in her life, having lost her 19-year-old son William in a car accident in 1989.
One wrote: "Never realised the tragedy in this dear lady's life.
"Love her that little bit more now. Bless her heart."
A fellow viewer added: "Crying my heart out watching #TheMaryBerryStory and her talking about the loss of her son William. Heartbroken."
During the show, Mary was filmed paying a visit to William's grave, where she recalled the weekend she lost him.
The family - including her other two children - spent the Friday evening together over a lamb dinner Mary had made specially for William's return from Bristol Polytechnic after a couple of weeks away.
On the Saturday morning, he asked to borrow the car, but hours later, Mary received a knock at the door, and her world crashed down around her.
Tearing up, she said: "It was a glorious January day and it was sort of 1 o'clock and he wasn't home.
"The doorbell rang and there was a policeman there, and immediately then I knew why.
"And he said, 'There's been an accident and I'm sorry to say your son is dead".
Mary and her husband Paul rushed to the hospital to see their son, and Mary's voice continued to crack with emotion as she recalled seeing her boy for the last time.
She said: "He just looked so beautiful and so lovely, his little cold face and it was nice to say farewell."
Mary's tears left many viewers in floods of their own, with one writing: "Watching The Mary Berry Story with tears- eyes and such admiration #whatawoman", while another added: "seeing Mary Berry sad is breaking my heart".
Others praised the star for being such an inspiration after so many years in the industry.
One Twitter user wrote: "watching the fabulous #TheMaryBerryStory what a truly wonderful, kind, cool, talented, humble woman she is. I wish she was my mum."
Another added: "Bless her heart! What a gentle, humble lady she is!"
