The Walking Dead episode 4 recap: Rick’s baby bombshell livens up a slow and painful episode
It's not only zombies causing problems now - it's paternity tests, too
IT WASN'T the bloodiest or even most violent we’ve seen, but Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead was possibly one of the longest and most stressful yet.
Running 20 minutes over, viewers had to agonise as chief bully Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) returned to Alexandria to cause chaos and pillage the village – taking everything that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) had left behind.
But the most exciting part was viewers finally discovering the mystery behind baby Judith’s biological father – as she is revealed to be the child of Rick’s wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Shane (Jon Bernthal) – his former police partner.
“She’s my daughter, but she isn’t mine,” Rick (Andrew Lincoln) told Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Sadly, there weren’t too many other developments, except that it was hammered home that Negan is one of the biggest baddies the show has ever seen, and the feeling that perhaps this is all being set up for a bloody season finale of rebellion against him.
Despite him stealing everything including their weapons (and their mattresses) Rosita (Christian Serratos) kept hold of an empty gun and was seen at the end of the episode asking to be made a bullet from one of Negan’s empty shells. Michonne was also seen secretly training and preparing for battle. The revolution could be starting here.
Don’t count on Darryl (Norman Reedus) though.
Now referred to as “the help” by Negan, the former badass was wheeled back in to Alexandria and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of fighting back... yet.
We also learned that Maggie (Lauren Cohan) – who has not yet been seen in season seven – is alive, but now thought to be dead by Negan, thanks to some quick thinking by Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).

But the question remains – who will have the balls to overthrow the man with the barbed baseball bat?
For now, it seems Negan is the bad guy no one is going to beat.
