Huge Brit pop star quits the UK for a new life in the sun as she prepares for BBC reality show
SHE has cemented herself as one of the biggest names in British dance music – and now Becky Hill is relocating to the mecca of clubbing.
The two-time Brit Award winner has revealed she is moving to Ibiza for the summer, but don’t expect to see her partying every night.
She admitted her hangovers were so bad that she is now almost totally teetotal after kicking alcohol earlier this year.
In an exclusive chat, Becky said: “I am going to be living out in Ibiza this year, which will be great.
“Hopefully I can do a bit of writing and settle into general life over there.
"It will be nice not having the stress of the plane touching down and racing to the venue.
READY MORE ON BECKY HILL
“I have an apartment and I am going to fly my little dog called Pig out there. I missed her a lot last year.
“She had to spend a lot of time at her minder’s due to my schedule.
"I want to have a life in Ibiza instead of living out of a suitcase.”
On swerving booze, she revealed: “My hangovers now last more than 24 hours which I am absolutely f***ing gutted about. Alcohol stopped being my friend.
“If I drink a little bit now, the implications of having a two-day hangover where I can’t get out of bed and do my job aren’t worth it.
“I get very negative on a hangover so I think it’s better for me to pick my moments instead of having a drink after a show or going out at the weekend.
“I definitely want to do some fitness retreats when I move to Ibiza.
"Right now I only know the clubs Hï and Amnesia, and they definitely don’t do health and fitness.”
Thanks to overhauling her lifestyle, Becky was fully focussed when working as a judge on the BBC’s new music competition Project Icon: The UK’s Next Music Star, which will debut on BBC Three and iPlayer at 9pm tomorrow.
The prize is a record deal and collaboration with Jason Derulo, who is also on the judging panel, plus a performance slot at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
And Becky, who shot to fame on the first series of The Voice in 2012, plans to support the winner now the cameras have stopped rolling.
She said: “I want to continue that journey with them.
“Coming from a talent show myself, I am fully aware of what the process is and what kind of after care you are given.
“I think people are tired of the same format so I’m excited to present this new talent show.
“Project Icon brings all aspects of a job of a popstar to light.
“The show covers social media, interviews on the radio and performing. It’s essentially popstar boot camp.
“I had to learn on the job many of the things they are learning on the show.”
Eyes Closed opens up heartache for Ed
ED SHEERAN’s upcoming album Subtract is his most emotional to date as he pours his heart out over the death of best friend Jamal Edwards and the trauma of his pregnant wife Cherry finding a tumour.
But when it came to Eyes Closed – the first single from the record, which was released yesterday – and singing it live for the first time, Ed admits it was hard to bring it all up again.
He told the sellout crowd at Manchester’s AO Arena on Thursday: “I feel so awkward about this album because I made it as a therapeutic, cathartic thing.
“This song means a hell of a lot to me. I wrote this about losing someone and I find with songs, when they are out in public they belong to everyone else.
Ed added: “With this song, don’t think about my s**t. Think about your s**t. For anyone who has ever lost someone – this is for you.”
I’m sure Eyes Closed will go straight to No1 and Ed said sorry to his fans for how many times they would be hearing it over the coming weeks.
He joked: “I’d like to apologise if it does get hammered on radio.”
It’s a great song, so I won’t be complaining.
Spinning but smiling
LEWIS CAPALDI is battling vertigo – a week after George Ezra cancelled two shows with the same condition
The Someone You Loved singer said: “I’m alive and living.
"I’ve not been very well. I’ve got vertigo. So I’m spinning but I’m smiling.”
He was speaking at the premiere of his Netflix docu How I’m Feeling Now, in Glasgow on Thursday, ahead of its release on April 5.
Get well soon, Lew.
Story of Chaka
CHAKA KHAN is to be the subject of a West End musical telling her life story, set to her famous songs.
The US singer, who turned 70 on Thursday, told Radio 2’s Trevor Nelson that her daughter Indira has signed up to play her, and they are currently working on the project.
Chaka, whose hits include such classics as I’m Every Woman, Ain’t Nobody and I Feel For You, said: “It’s in the works right now.
“My daughter will be playing myself.
“She’s a great singer, great artist, and she looks just like a mini me.
“She’s a beautiful girl. And she’s a great artist.”
Cinema screenings
THOUSANDS failed to get tickets to the Eurovision final but now fans will get the chance to watch it on the big screen instead.
The annual song contest will be shown in cinemas across the UK for the first time, being broadcast live from Liverpool on May 13.
Tickets for the screenings will go on sale on Monday at 10am.
Times not so cheery for Hailey
WITH Hailey Bieber being hit by death threats, Selena Gomez has come to her defence – even though it’s her fans sending them.
They have been pitted against each other online ever since model Hailey – who wore this cheerleader-inspired outfit in a new campaign with Fila – married pop star Justin, who is Selena’s ex-boyfriend.
But things turned nasty a few weeks ago when Hailey and her pal Kylie Jenner were accused of mocking singer Selena’s eyebrows on social media.
Since then, the model has been met with a tirade of scary online abuse, with fans also claiming she is copying Selena in every element of her life.
It has been going on for weeks, but yesterday Selena finally took a stand and called for it to end.
But she stopped short of denying there was bad blood between them.
In a carefully-worded post on Instagram, the Hands To Myself singer wrote: “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity.
“This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying.
“I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”
Last month, a video also resurfaced on TikTok which appeared to show Hailey gagging at the mention of Taylor Swift, who is Selena’s best pal.
The person who uploaded the video referred to Hailey as a “mean girl”.
And in a comment underneath it, Selena wrote: “Sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game.”
Justin married Hailey in September 2018, just six months after his on/off relationship of eight years with Selena finally ended.
Last autumn, Hailey stated it was “all love” between the couple and the following month they posed for photos together at a glitzy gala in Los Angeles.
For all of their sakes, I hope this feud can be put to bed.
