Martin Roberts set to enter the Jungle with radio DJ Danny Baker after I’m A Celeb bosses quizzed TV star over his love of aliens to ensure he was ‘mentally fit’
I’M A Celebrity latecomer Martin Roberts was quizzed about his love of aliens to ensure he was “mentally fit” to enter the jungle.
The Homes Under The Hammer host, 53, who The Sun can reveal is entering the jungle Thursday alongside broadcasting veteran Danny Baker, 59, has a spaceship-themed treehouse in his garden in Bath, Somerset.
And he says the ITV show’s psychologist raised the subject as part of his preparation to enter the camp in Murwillumbah, Australia.
He revealed: “They do a medical on you and you have to do that. But then you have to have an hour and half’s conversation with the team’s psychologist to check whether you’re mentally stable enough to go into the jungle.
“She asked ‘I’ve got to ask you this—I know it’s a bit strange, but have you ever felt like you’re possessed or controlled by aliens?’ it was a genuine question.”
The BBC presenter, who has fronted the property show for 14 years, says he is inspired to win after The Sun picked him as the most likely to be voted out first.
He said: “You put me down as most likely to be kicked out first. How do you think that makes me feel? I owe you a favour because the odds are 33/1. No kidding.”

When asked if he had bet on himself to triumph and be crowned King of the Jungle, he said: “No, I couldn’t possibly tell you that. But at 33/1, I got a friend to do it. Why wouldn’t you back yourself?”
The Warrington-born telly host also revealed his sadness over his former co-host Lucy Alexander, 45, quitting the BBC1 show after 19 series at his side.
He said: “She’s my screen wife. It was like I had a screen divorce. Lucy and I did it for 14 years. As an on-screen partnership it’s like Phil and Kirsty breaking up, or Ant and Dec going their separate ways. I was really sad when she left.”
He also plans to put his property expertise to good use in the camp.
"It doesn’t take long to build a treehouse. We’ll get away with it."
