SAM Robertson is finally set to make his return to Coronation Street tonight as the long-absent Adam Barlow - and he's already causing carnage.

Adam, the son of Ken’s late daughter Susan and Mike Baldwin, arrives back on the cobbles to support his much-loved grandfather after his recent stroke - but he doesn't waste any time making an impression.

Arriving at the factory, Adam helps himself to some booze, before admitting: "My dad Mike Baldwin used to work here."

As he makes a swift exit, he can't help but shamelessly flirt with Aidan's girlfriend Eva Price, before bidding farewell to the rest of the "ladies".

Viewers last saw Adam in 2007 before he flew to live in Canada, and he will return tonight alongside Ken's son Daniel, played by Rob Mallard.

Asked previously if he would play a womaniser, actor Sam admitted: "Oh yes, it’s in my contract! Absolutely Adam’s a womaniser and at the minute he doesn’t seem to have much regard for the women he’s with.

"He doesn’t seem to have much heart, but maybe this is leading to him getting his fingers burnt."

And speaking of his return, he said: “I’m delighted to be back, Coronation Street was my first job as an actor and is a special place for me.

“As a young actor it was a little overwhelming so I’m looking forward to coming back and stamping my mark on the character, I feel there’s unfinished business with Adam.”

Actor Sam has already got off to a questionable start, as he appeared to admit that he prefers rival soap Emmerdale to Coronation Street.

After getting the call with the good news, he didn’t react in the way producers no doubt expected.

“I watched all the soaps back and I said to my mum: ‘I think Emmerdale‘s a bit better than Corrie at the moment,” he reportedly said.

However, after hearing Emmerdale producer Kate Oates was moving to the soap, he was reassured.

Sam told : “I thought Emmerdale was fantastic when I watched it and I thought Corrie was a bit lacklustre.

“I was a bit concerned about the direction it was going in, so when I heard that Kate was coming in and it was her going to be editing, I was more excited about the prospect of coming back.”
