But, he once revealed he almost turned the offer down - telling his friends he thought his life would "never be the same".

Paul told the in 2019: “I honestly was very unsure.

“I’ve been asked so many times, ‘Were you sitting by the phone, just waiting?’

"But when they did phone me up and offer it to me – ‘Hi, we’re so pleased to …’ – I remember putting the phone down and going: ‘I don’t know if I want to do that.’

"I turned to my friends and said: ‘If I do this, my life is never going to be the same again.’”

But, his decision paid off - over the five years they were together, S Club 7 had four UK No.1 singles, one UK No.1 album, hits throughout , including a top-ten single in the United StatesAsia, Latin America and Africa.

They recorded four studio albums, released eleven singles and went on to sell over 14 million albums worldwide.
