Huge Eighties supergroup ‘to reform’ after 20 years for Eurovision Song Contest
FRANKIE Goes To Hollywood could be making a comeback for something very special.
Twenty years after they were last united insiders tell me the group have been asked to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in their home city of Liverpool as part of the celebrations.
The move would be huge for the band, made up of lead singers Holly Johnson and Paul Rutherford, Peter Gill, Brian Nash and Mark O’Toole, who landed three No1 singles with their hits Relax, Two Tribes and The Power Of Love before they split in 1987.
A music insider said: “Eurovision organisers have put them at the top of their wish list and have asked them if they would consider performing.
“The group haven’t played together with lead singer Holly in more than 20 years, so it would be massive to get them back.
“To host Eurovision in Liverpool is massive for the city and the organisers want to make sure it is one to remember.

“For the band it would be a monumental moment too.
“Relax got banned by the BBC when it was released and this year marks its 40th anniversary, so to be back performing it on the Beeb would be huge.
“Eurovision are hoping the group says yes but it might not be that simple.”
After the split Holly was sued by the band’s record label when he tried to release solo music with a rival.

He won the battle then the group were freed to release new music, with Peter and Paul going on to form Forbidden Hollywood in 2007, playing new music and FGTH’s biggest hits.
The group were last all together in 2003 for VH1’s Bands Reunited, but they declined to perform live.
I have made no secret of the fact that I’d rather watch paint dry than tune into the Eurovision Song Contest.
But if they manage to pull off this reunion, even I might watch.
DANNY DUET WITH WAYNE
AS part of McFly, guitarist Danny Jones has scored seven No1 singles, two No1 albums and gone on to have a successful television career.
But Danny has now revealed one of the biggest moments of his career was singing with Wayne Rooney.
Recalling the night at the Soccer Aid charity football match, Danny, who has played in the game four times, said: “We had me, Dermot Kennedy and James Bay.
“I remember (former footballer) Robbie Keane coming and saying, ‘You’d better bring your guitar.
“I said to James, ‘Mate, are you bringing yours? But weird isn’t it?’ But Dermot brought his guitar as well and the three of us end up jamming.”
He added on his Sappenin’ podcast: “I’m thinking ‘I’ve got to bring All About You out in a minute, haven’t I?’
“We’re having an amazing time. Joe Wicks is sat right in front of us, Wayne Rooney wants to do a tune.
“So there’s me, James Bay, Dermot Kennedy, jamming Mustang Sally with Wayne Rooney. And he’s got a decent little voice but he’s got a scouse twang to it.
“It was amazing but no one dared film it, I don’t know why. I’m thinking, ‘this is the best thing ever. One of the highlights of my life’.”
Tom left sea sick by bug
MOST holidays to Barbados mean coming home with a good tan and a smile on your face.
But for Tom Grennan a break in the Caribbean left him with a far worse memory.
The Not Over Yet singer said: “When I say I had the worst food poisoning . . . it was awful.
“I took my mum and dad on holiday. And my mum was like, ‘Let’s do a day out, go kayaking and all that stuff’. So we booked it.”
Recalling the doomed day trip to Alan Carr on his Life’s A Beach podcast, Tom added: “In the kayak I was like, ‘My God, I don’t feel well’.
“The sea was getting rougher and rougher then this boat capsized.
“I’m f***ing trying to keep myself up, I’m violently sick in the sea, s**t myself in the sea.
“I was like a cartoon, it was horrible.”
It certainly does not sound too pleasant.
THE ROMANCE between Phoebe Dynevor and American actor Cameron Fuller seems to be hotting up.
The Bridgerton actress was linked to Andrew Garfield last year after they put on a cosy display but she seems to have brought her newest fella home to meet the family, which includes Corrie legend Sally Dynevor.
Phoebe and Cameron were seen walking together in West London at the weekend.
A VERY SNAPPY EASTER
SPRING has sprung and brought with it countless new photo opps for the world's celebs.
Kylie Jenner cut some sunflowers to bask in the Californian sun, while Ella Henderson wore a few more layers for her snap a little closer to home on St Stephen's Green in Dublin.
For Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock it was all about family and she shared a cute snap of her kids tucking into their chocolate eggs.
Madonna wore bunny ears to pose with her children and wrote: “Happy Easter from the Ciccone youth!”
MILLIE BOBBY BROWN and Co have made Stranger Things so successful that an animated version of the sci-fi romp is in the works.
Creators the Duffer brothers said: “We’ve always dreamed of an animation in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons we grew up loving. To see this dream realised is thrilling.”
Still can’t get enough? There’s a live action spin-off and a stage show also planned.
TAKE A CAT RAP
DOJA Cat has confirmed her upcoming fourth album will be a rap record.
The Say So singer told her fans she was turning her back on pop.
Doja made the announcement online, where she also shared new tracks she’s working on – Balut, Agora Hills and erm, Wet Vagina.
Doja said on Twitter the record was “rap only”, adding: “Pop isn’t exciting to me any more. I don’t wanna make it.”
Doja also hit back at criticism of her previous rap. She said: “I also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny.
“I know they are. I wasn’t trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing y’all say that I can’t…so I will.”
TOM AND ZENDAYA HEAD TO HAMPTON
SPIDERMAN Tom Holland probably felt right at home among the dusty cobwebs of Hampton Court Palace.
He and his A-list girlfriend Zendaya smiled with a tour guide under the portrait of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, while touring the king's former home in South West London like with regular punters.
The Hollywood lovebirds have been spotted all over London while staying with Tom’s parents in nearby Kingston-upon-Thames.
Bet the gift shop did a roaring trade . .

OW NO OWEN!
HE voiced Lightning McQueen in Pixar film Cars but Owen Wilson could do with a crash course in bikes.
The Hollywood actor went cycling in North London this weekend but must have thought he was still in the US, as he was on the wrong side of the road.
