Michael Douglas apologises to Val Kilmer after claiming film star pal was secretly battling with throat cancer
Actor, 72, who was diagnosed with the same illness shocked fans by saying his film pal 'is dealing with exactly what I had'
MICHAEL Douglas has apologised to Val Kilmer after claiming he had throat cancer.
Michael, 72, who was diagnosed with the same illness in 2010, shocked fans by saying he “is dealing with exactly what I had” last month.
He said: “Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”
But the Wall Street star has now written an apology letter to Val, 56, who denied his claims on Facebook by saying: “I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed.”
Taking to the site again on Tuesday, he said: “Michael Douglas wrote me a nice note apologising for suggesting to the press overseas, I ‘wasn’t doing too well …’ and was grateful to hear I am doing well. He’s a classy guy.”
Tombstone star Val also recalled a meeting Michael’s father Kirk, 99, on the set of the film. He added: “One day I have to recount the story of when I met his father. He loved my performance in Tombstone so much, having played Doc himself in a mighty fine film, he was so animated about all the choices I was able to do.
"The first time I met Michael is a good story too.
"Oliver Stone insisted I meet him ... it was hilarious.”
