idris given the elba

Idris Elba’s new film 100 Streets makes just £245 at the box office… despite racy scenes with Gemma Arterton

On an average cinema price of £10, that’s the equivalent of just 24 people through the door on the opening weekend

NOT even the sight of IDRIS ELBA’s bare bum in his first sex scene could entice fans to see his latest movie.

I’ve learned the James Bond hopeful’s new film 100 Streets has bombed at the box office.

Not even a raunchy sex scene with Gemma Arterton could entice fans

The London-based Brit flick — a gritty drama in which Idris plays a former rugby ace battling drug addiction — took a measly £245 in its opening weekend following a nationwide release last Friday.

On an average cinema price of £10, that’s the equivalent of just 24 people through the door.

Given that Idris is also a DJ and has been training to become a professional kickboxer, there is talk that he may be spreading himself too thinly.

A film source said: “To put it frankly, the figures are embarrassing. It’s not the first time Idris has failed to earn big numbers at the box office. He is a massive film star but poor results like this are going to be detrimental to his career.

“He’s been exploring so many other ventures lately, like his boxing, that it makes you wonder if he’d prefer to carry on doing small, indie films.

“100 Streets has already been released on Sky and iTunes, so fans are going to be even less inclined to watch it at the cinema.”

The film also stars GEMMA ARTERTON, who plays the estranged wife of Idris’s character, Max. In a graphic sex scene that was set to rival TOM HIDDLESTON’s bum-flashing in The Night Manager, Idris is seen sprawled on top of Gemma in his first nude encounter on the big screen.

As both a producer on the independent film as well as the lead, it’s a double blow for Idris

If he still wants the keys to 007’s Aston Martin, he’s going to have to up his game

But Gemma described filming that as the “most unsexy thing ever” — hardly an enticement to watch it. 100 Streets is languishing at No85 at the box office.

As both a producer on the independent film as well as the lead, it’s a double blow for Idris — and it’s not the first time one of his films has flopped in cinemas. His critically acclaimed 2015 war drama Beasts of No Nation also failed to impress with it’s takings and only became a success after Netflix bought the rights.

If Idris still wants the keys to 007’s Aston Martin, he’s going to have to up his game.

ANT & DEC aren’t the only male double act leaving their audience in stitches.

MICHAEL BALL and ALFIE BOE are making so many gags on their joint tour, fans are wondering if they’re watching comedians, rather than singers.
The pair’s album Together is set for another week in the Top Five when the charts are confirmed today.
A source said: “Pairing up as a telly double act wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility.”
Ant & Dec – you have been warned.
