VIEWERS have slammed a woman after she paid £1.1million for a private concert with Take That.
Talking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning, businesswoman Elaine Fairfax revealed why she had spent so much cash to have
the boys sing for her in her living room.
It all started when Chris Evans opened an auction live on his radio show, in a bid to raise money for Children In Need.
Elaine was then in a bidding war with another superfan, but upped the cash after they bid £500,000.
Elaine, who made her fortune by setting up a pet insurance firm, will now receive a 45-minute, one-off performance from the band.
Speaking on the ITV show today she said: “I had put aside £500,000 to bid, but you start to get into a frenzy!
“There was another guy Patrick and we kept fighting each other.
“So I thought why not, let’s go for this .
My husband said you deserve it, let’s go to £1.1million”
She then said she can’t wait to have Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Chris Evans in her living room: “Just to have the guys there with me will be a dream come true.
“They are lovely lovely guys and I’ve been a fan from the start
“I think they are great at what they do.”
But viewers weren’t happy, saying her decision was “ludicrous”.
Another said she had “more money than sense”.
The proceeds will go to Children In Need, which stages its annual telethon tonight.
It is the first time Take That have performed a private show for a competition winner since the start of their career.
