Len Goodman was born on April 25, 1944, in Bromley, Kent, and began dancing at the age of 19.
He went onto compete in various competitions across the nation, claiming victory in several competitions during his late twenties.
The dancer and his partner Cherry won the British Exhibition Championships four times.

Len eventually retired from competing in the early 1970s.
In 2004 he became a household name as the head judge on Strictly Come Dancing, and quickly became one of the biggest stars in TV.

He left Strictly in 2016, but continued to do DWTS.
Sadly Len passed away on April 22, 2023 from bone cancer.
His agent Jackie Gill said in a statement: "It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78.
"A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him."
