Louise Redknapp hopes Strictly Come Dancing partner Kevin Clifton can live up to ‘fertility king’ name and help give her a baby
STRICTLY star Louise Redknapp has revealed she is desperate to have a daughter and hopes “fertility king” dance partner Kevin Clifton could be her lucky charm.
The former Eternal singer has two sons, Charlie, 12, and Beau, eight, with footie pundit husband Jamie, but the couple are determined to give them a sister.
And after getting herself into shape thanks to Strictly’s tough training schedule, 42-year-old Louise hopes Kevin’s talisman-like talent can help in their bid.
The professional dancer has proved a lucky charm — his last two Strictly dance partners became pregnant after the show.
Kevin was paired with Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge in 2014. Soon after the series finished she became pregnant with her and footie star hubby Wayne’s second son, Carter.
And following last year’s competition, EastEnders actress Kellie Bright announced she was expecting again.
She is due to give birth to her and toyboy hubby Paul Stocker’s second child in the coming weeks.
In an exclusive interview, Louise revealed she was thrilled to be partnered with Kevin: “Two of his previous partners have got pregnant after the show. Bring that one on.
“Maybe he’s the good luck charm I need to get that girl I really want.
“Jamie would love another baby, I’m not getting any younger so we’ll see what happens. But I’m in Strictly shape now so we’ll see.”
While her newfound figure is giving her a boost, the stresses of the show are getting to her.
She says: “I do think about my routine at night, I must go through it a million times and then I wake up in the morning and I don’t know if I’ve even been to sleep or not.
“Jamie has completely taken over with the kids — school, homework, everything. I owe him a lot.
“I’m always rehearsing in the kitchen after training, and I get them to sit and watch what I’m doing.
“Sometimes the boys score me, but because they’re boys, they think it’s hilarious to be mean and give me twos and threes.
“Jamie knows better than that — he goes more towards the sevens.”
With the contest heading to Blackpool today, Louise is conscious of the final looming and says: “I’m feeling slightly pressured, more for Kevin.
“I wish he’d had some bad partners in the past but they’ve all been brilliant and constantly in the final.
“If I don’t get there I feel like I have let him down.”
Louise may doubt whether she can lift the glitterball trophy but one thing is for sure — Strictly has changed her life for the better.
“It’s given me more confidence and that was a huge thing for me coming in to do it,” she said.
— Strictly is live from Blackpool tonight, on BBC One at 6.55pm.
