Tom Daley’s husband Dustin Lance Black faces trial for assault after he ‘attacked woman in nightclub’
TOM Daley's husband Dustin Lance Black is facing trial accused of attacking a woman in a nightclub row.
The screenwriter allegedly chucked a drink over Teddy Edwardes, 32, who is a host of BBC3 show The Big Proud Party Agency.
Dustin, 48, appeared via videolink at Westminster Magistrates' Court today where he denied assault by beating.
The director, who wore a navy top and black glasses, gave his address as Los Angeles.
A trial date was set for August 8 with the star released on unconditional bail.
Dustin allegedly got into the dispute with Unbreakable star Teddy at Freedom nightclub in London in August last year.
He was with Olympic gold medallist husband Tom at the time of the row.
Teddy later posted on social media claiming she was the one booted out of the club.
She also alleged Dustin chucked an "entire drink" over her so she responded with a "little tap on the head".
The nightclub promoter added: "I have to add that Tom Daley was lovely throughout he was just trying to defuse the situation."
Dustin grew up in a Mormon household and won an Academy Award for his 2008 film Milk.
He met Tom in 2013 with the diver later revealing to fans he had been dating a man since the summer.
The pair married in 2017 in Bovey Castle in the Dartmoor National Park.
They announced earlier this month they have welcomed a second son, Phoenix Rose.
The couple are already dads to Robert Ray Black-Daley, who was born in June 2018 via surrogate.
A spokesperson for Dustin said: "Mr. Black was surprised and saddened to learn that the case had reached court and has today pleaded not guilty.
"Of course Mr. Black will respect the process, and in the meantime will continue to focus on being a loving father and husband."
