Who is Thomas King in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale villain Thomas King terrorised the village in 2013 by stalking Chas Dingle.

The character first arrived in the Dales in 2004 amid a huge custody battle between his parents – Carl and Colleen – as they made a decision to divorce.

His dad Carl later got with Chas, but after he died Thomas blamed Chas for his death and began terrorising her.

After a short lived romance with Belle Dingle, Thomas was eventually banished to Saudi Arabia where his mother now lived.

Tom’s exit saw him flee the village after landing himself in trouble while he was dating Belle, who had planned to run away with him, but he decided to go alone.

However in April 2023 it was revealed he is back in the Dales, and is played by new actor James Chase.

This time Thomas has grown up and is now a vet.

The character still has family in the village as his uncle is Jimmy King.

Speaking about a potential romance again with Belle, actor James told journalists: “Tom and Belle were childhood sweethearts and they loved each other.

“Even though there was a lot of drama going on at the time, Belle was a shining star for him — the main person he can remember who gave him hope and love.”

What other TV shows has James Chase starred in?

Actor James Chase is now playing Thomas King, and is very new to the acting scene.

In fact, Emmerdale is his first TV acting job.

Speaking about his character, James told journalists: “He’s definitely going down the route of trying to build those bridges up again that he sort of burned.

“I think with Chas he will try to apologise to her and just to try and build that friendship again.”

Who originally played Thomas King?

Since 2004 the character of Thomas King has been played by three other actors.

This often happens in soap land, where several different actors play the same role at different times.

When Tom first arrived in Emmerdale in 2004 he was played by Jack Ferguson, who stayed in the role until 2007.

Next up Connor Hill had the job for a year from 2009 until 2010.

Actor Mark Flanagan then arrived in the village in 2012 to play the evil Tom.

He left the ITV soap for good in 2013, when his character fled the Dales.
