THE X Factor's Honey G has challenged Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls to a dance off following their war of words.

The resident 'novelty acts' of their respective reality shows found themselves in a war of words after Ed made it clear he thinks his dancing chops are superior to Honey G's rapping skills.

When asked by about Honey G, Ed said: "I’m definitely aware of Honey G. I’ve seen a couple of YouTube videos.

“I am not sure what to say! As Craig would say: ‘OMG!’ All I will say is that I think I am getting better.”

Never one to keep quiet, Honey G had her say and hit back with: "Haters are always gonna hate! I just want to go all the way to the final and win it.”

Speaking after her performance on Saturday night's X Factor, she said: "I'd like to challenge Ed Balls to a dance off, challenge me any day. He knows where I am."

Despite facing criticism, both of them have defied the odds as Ed has made it to the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Honey G is on course to duet to Vanilla Ice if she makes it to The Factor final.

They are now both touted to win their respective reality shows with Simon Cowell saying Honey G is "infectious".

Meanwhile, former MP Ed has also hit back at his detractors who say he should be booted off to make way for more talented dancers.

Speaking on Radio 4, he said: "It is a very serious time, there’s a lot of uncertainty about Brexit and Trump as president.

“My wife Yvette came back from the House of Commons and said she had spoken to MPs from all sides of politics who said they were enjoying me being on the show as it was about time we had a bit of joy and laughter in this country.”

Similarly, X Factor boss Simon Cowell has defended controversial rapper Honey G saying she "is the most unique contestant we’ve ever had.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One at 6.55pm from Blackpool while The X Factor kicks off on ITV from 8pm with a movie night theme.
