I’M A Celebrity’s Martin Roberts’ wife has defended the star against angry backlash from viewers – insisting he’s had a “tough time” in the jungle.

Kirsty revealed the star can often “throw his toys out the cot” – but after thinking over his actions, he’ll “wear his heart on his sleeve”.

Martin has been involved in the first two rows of the series so far, as he clashed with broadcaster Danny Baker.

The first began when he accused his co-star of “gloating”, before he hit out again tonight when the stars all accused him of neglecting his chores.

Speaking to the , his wife said: “He’s had a really tough ride so far. He came in right at the deep end, straight into doing trials and so on.”

However, Kirsty is confident he’ll come out the other side – as she knows him well, and he handles situations in a similar way.

She added: “His apology to Danny and so on – that’s Martin. He wears his heart on his sleeve.

“If he’s got something to say he’ll say it, he won’t hold back. He’ll throw all the toys out the cot and then afterwards he’ll sit and think, and a bit later he’ll put them back in again.”

While Martin was accused of neglecting his job of collecting water, Kirsty admitted they have been caravanning together in the past – and it’s often her emptying the toilet.

Meanwhile, it comes after Martin broke down in tears following his second fight with Danny Baker on the show.

The Homes Under the Hammer presenter had a run-in with Camp President Scarlett Moffatt over keeping the camp stocked with water and it all became too much for him

He later apologised and said: “I wasn’t aware I was ignoring your requests, I apologise.

“Tomorrow’s a new day you won’t have to ask me twice to do anything.”
