Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls hits back at rival Danny Mac and insists the show is not just about ‘great dancers’
Former Shadow Chancellor thinks reality TV show should be about people that haven't danced before
ED Balls has taken a swipe at Strictly rival Danny Mac – saying the show is not about “great dancers”.
The ex-Shadow Chancellor, 49, who has so far avoided the bottom two despite judges’ low scores, says it’s not about celebs who have already danced.
It comes as BBC insiders say Ed could be the first “comedy contestant” to reach the show’s finals through his huge public vote.
Ed said: “The show is not about great dancers becoming even greater. It’s about people who have never done it before having a go.
“I was surprised to get past the first week. But I’ve been trying really hard and trying to get through every week,”

Judge Darcey Bussell branded former West End star Danny, 28, a “professional” as he got the maximum 40 points for his Charleston in Blackpool on Saturday night.
But Ed’s routine to Psy’s Gangnam Style has had more than 535,000 hits around the world on YouTube with an extra 405,000 tuning in to give the show a ratings boost to an audience of 11.9million.
The Sun revealed how the Strictly judging panel had been penalising Danny for being too good and been at odds with producers over Ed – thinking he should follow previous celeb John Sergeant, 72, and quit to allow better dancers go through.
