Richard Madeley was victim of random attack for not wearing a poppy… even though he WAS
The popular presenter was wrongfully taunted in the street for not paying his respects
RICHARD Madeley has revealed he was involved in a unprovoked attack, where he was wrongfully accused of not wearing a poppy.
The TV presenter spoke out about the confrontation, which happened just before Armistice Day this year, during the week he was filling in on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff.
Richard said: “I was accosted by a bloke.
“He blocked my way and poked me in the chest and snarled ‘Bloody hypocrite, f*****g fake.
‘You wear a poppy on the telly but not in real life.
‘It’s all show with w*****s like you, isn’t it?’”
Richard then said he opened his collar to reveal the poppy to the man before calling him a “self
righteous judgemental prat”.

Actress Rosamund Pike recently angered viewers of The Graham Norton Show for not wearing one.
The Gone Girl actress was on the show to promote her new film, United Kingdom, but fans were quick to notice she had failed to put a poppy on, even though her fellow guests Chris Martin and Michael McIntyre had.
One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Rosamund Pike where is your poppy” with a series of angry face emojis, while another added: “Why isn’t Rosamund Pike wearing a Poppy? #GrahamNorton”.
A third wrote: “Really don’t like Rosamund Pike! Plus she’s not wearing a poppy!”
FIFA said its rules on “political” statements had been breached.
Both sides England now face a potential points deduction or a fine. The FA has said it will appeal any penalty.
