Dramatic 911 audio revealed after Kanye West’s doc told dispatchers he ‘suffers from temporary psychosis’
RAPPER Kanye West was being treated for psychosis yesterday after being rushed to hospital in handcuffs after a nervous breakdown.
It followed claims the 39-year-old star had attacked a staff member at his trainer Harley Pasternak’s gym.
Kanye’s personal doctor Michael Farzam called cops to the trainer’s home in Los Angeles on Monday but warned them that West could become violent.
A leaked police report revealed Dr Farzam said he had placed Kanye under an involuntary psychiatric hold because of the alleged assault.
Cops alerted the fire department and paramedics who took the distressed dad of two to hospital “for his own health and safety”.
Kanye was handcuffed to a stretcher and ferried to the city’s UCLA Medical Centre.
His wife Kim Kardashian pulled out of her first public appearance since her £9million Paris robbery ordeal to be at his side.
But friends of the reality star claim she is “fed up” with his public tantrums.
Meanwhile pals of Kanye ex- pressed fears for his mental health.
One source said: “He is spiralling further and further out of control.”
Police responded to an emergency call at 1.20pm local time.
Dr Farzam gave an alias for the rapper, saying he was a man named Jim Jones who “suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration”.
In an audio clip leaked online, 911 call handlers are heard describing it as a “psychiatric emergency”.
Kanye was said to be “acting erratically”.
His representatives have given no comment or update on his health.
The incident came just hours after he cancelled the remaining 21 dates of his US tour. No reason was given.
On Saturday, Kanye stormed off stage in Sacramento, California, having performed just three songs.
He ranted about Hillary Clinton, Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg and former friends Beyonce and Jay Z.
In a bizarre outburst, he appeared to urge fellow rapper Jay not to order hitmen on him.
He said: “Jay Z, call me bro, you still ain’t call me.
“I know you got killers, please don’t send them at my head. Jay Z call me. Come to me like a man.”
The rappers’ friendship has deteriorated in recent years, partly as a result of conflict surrounding Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal and Kanye’s work with rivals Apple.
Kanye had been touring the US relentlessly since August, performing more than 40 shows.
His mother-in-law Kris Jenner said on Monday: “He is exhausted. He’s had a gruelling tour and it’s been a grind. He needs some rest.”
But yesterday friends of Kim, 36, claimed the strain of their marriage may have led to his breakdown.
They said the couple had been “bickering constantly” since Kim, 36, was robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel last month, during which she feared was going to be raped or even killed by the robbers.
The raiders’ haul of jewellery included a £3.5million diamond engagement ring from Kanye.
Kim is said to be angry that her husband continued touring instead of staying by her side while she recovered from the trauma.
She was pictured on Monday boarding a private plane to New York, where she was due to join her family at the 2016 Angel Ball.
But she hurriedly flew back to California to be with Kanye.
Friends said this time of year always brings Kanye “a lot of pain” due to memories of losing his mum Donda in November 2007.
Concerned fans yesterday started the hashtag “PrayForKanye” on social media while his fellow stars wished him a speedy recovery.
US singer John Legend, who spent time with Kim and Kanye before the Paris robbery, admitted he was worried about West’s mental health.
He said: “I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and time to figure things out.”
Kanye’s friend Chance The Rapper, 23, used a performance on BBC Radio 1 Xtra to voice his support, saying: “I want to extend a very special prayer to my big brother Kanye West.
And rapper 9th Wonder, 41, said: “Been knowing the brother upwards of 13 years. Mental healing is a serious thing, no matter what. Stay strong Kanye West.”
Last month reports in the US claimed Kanye had fired 30 of his fashion label’s staff following a “massive meltdown” after the launch of his Yeezy Season 4 line.
The collection, unveiled as part of New York Fashion Week, was panned by critics.
