He had no idea the venomous reptile was getting ready to strike as he slept

JOEL Dommett had a very near miss with a poisonous snake, after it lurked near him as he slept.

The venomous small eyed reptile crept into the I’m a Celebrity camp, unbeknown to the sleeping stars.

Although fairly small, at 60 cm long, the venom from the glossy skinned creature packs a punch that can leave their prey needing urgent medical attention.

The snake had crept into camp hot on the heels of a mouse that was lurking around Joel’s bed.

In the Bush Telegraph Jordan said: “One of the worse things about living in the Jungle is the paranoia because you know that there are thousands of things watching you that you can’t see.

“If they felt like it they could just clamber in the hammock with you so that’s a bit scary.”

Last week the camp was put on lockdown when eight of the world’s deadliest spiders were found roaming around.

The arachnids – known as the Funnel Web Spider – were later removed after being found in a camera hide located near the celebrity camp mate beds, according to the Mirror.

about the scary discover, Medic Bob McCarron said: “The funnel webs are the most dangerous spider in the world.

“This year in one of the camera hides we found eight. That’s the most we’ve ever found in one day.”
