ROOM FOR A FOO?

Glastonbury’s secret set WILL be the Foo Fighters – but frontman Dave Grohl won’t stay at Worthy Farm

FOO FIGHTERS will return to Glastonbury this summer - six years after they last headlined the festival.

The Sun can confirm the group are set to play a secret set on the iconic Pyramid Stage when the festival kicks off in a fortnight, taking to the stage ahead of Royal Blood and headliners Arctic Monkeys.

The Sun can reveal the band, fronted by Dave Grohl, have booked out a series of rooms in a hotel near Worthy Farm ahead of the show.

Keen to keep fans guessing, the official Glastonbury line-up has Best Of You rockers under the codename The Churnups.

They are set to play for an hour and 15 minutesfrom 6.15pm.

A music mole said: "The set has been in the planning for some time as it will be 25 years since the Foo Fighters first played Glastonbury back in 1998.

"The day and slot is also exactly the same as when they made their debut as well.

"After a tough 12 months the group wanted to celebrate their time together and what better way than at the mother of all festivals.

"The Foos made sure to leave a gap in their tour schedule but wanted to keep it all under wraps. "

They dropped a hint at the news this week when Dave shared an open letter to fans on social media which referenced “churning up emotions” - similar to the pseudonym they will perform under.

He penned: "Hey, it's been a while.

"Now that we've returned from our first run of shows, I felt compelled to reach out and thank you all for being there for us.

"Every night, when I see you singing, it makes me sing harder. When I see you screaming, it makes me scream louder. When I see your tears, it brings me to tears. And when I see your joy, it brings me joy.

"But, I see you... and it feels good to see you, churning up these emotions together.

"Because we've always done this together. Time and time again. See you soon."

While Dave made a surprise appearance last year during Paul McCartney's headline set, it will be the first time Foo Fighter have played Glastonbury since 2017.

Couple that with headline sets from fellow rock legends Guns N Roses and Rocketman himself Sir Elton John and Emily and Michael Eavis couple be about to pull off one of the biggest weekends in the festival's history.
