Unlucky Rod Stewart fans’ £11,000 UK trip to see singer ends in THREE cancelled shows after 4,000 mile journey
Norwegian tourists saved hard for their trip but ended up drowning their sorrows in the hotel bar
A COUPLE spent £11,000 on a 4,000-mile round trip to watch hero Rod Stewart perform — only for two of his concerts to be cancelled due to illness.
Unlucky Elisabeth Andreassen and Totto Kohler then tried to cheer themselves up by booking in for a West End show, but that was ended by power cuts.
Economist Totto, 52, said: “I think somebody owes us a drink.
“Maybe we are the unluckiest tourists Britain has ever welcomed? I think we are probably close.”
The married couple, from Norway, had been fans of the crooner for 40 years without ever seeing him live.
They decided to take the five flights needed to get from the remote Lofoten Islands to see him perform at The O2 Arena in Greenwich, South East London, on Tuesday night.
When the rocker cancelled the show due to a sore throat, Elisabeth and Totto paid out hundreds of pounds to stay on and catch his Friday night show.
But the veteran singer was forced to axe that gig too.
Totto added: “We’ve spent £11,000 on nothing. We have a modest income and saved long and hard to see Rod and experience beautiful London in the winter.
"But it’s been the worst trip ever. You have to laugh otherwise you’d cry.”

The couple’s attempt to salvage something from their trip by booking tickets to see Jersey Boys at the Piccadilly Theatre also ended in disaster.
Totto added: “It had only just started when the electricity went and we were forced out into the freezing cold. We finished our stay by drowning our sorrows in the hotel bar.
“We’ve had the most unbelievable time for all the wrong reasons. All I can say is we must have left our luck back in Norway.”
The couple, married for 23 years, flew back to Norway yesterday morning.
The organisers of the Rod Stewart gigs have promised Elisabeth and Totto tickets for other shows later this month and in February, but the couple cannot make the dates.
