What has Sophie Turner said about trolls?

Sophie, 23, who has 13.4million Instagram followers, told the American TV psychologist Dr Phil McGraw: “People would write ‘Sansa needs to lose 10lb, Sansa got fat’.” I used to get called wooden a lot, that bothered me. I believed it.”

Suddenly, she was worried about camera angles showing her “big nose” and started trying to lose weight.

Some days she wouldn’t eat anything apart from nuts and she would go back to her hotel to have a good cry with Maisie.

This insecurity about her appearance and her abilities as an actress led to anxiety.

Sophie said: “I’ve suffered with depression for about five or six years now. The biggest challenge for me was getting out of bed and getting out of the house.

“I used to think about suicide a lot when I was younger. I don’t know why, though.

“Maybe it’s just a weird fascination I used to have. I don’t think I ever would have gone through with it.”

Who is Sophie Turner?

At only 23 years old, Sophie has had a staggering career already.

The British actress was born on February 21 1996 in Northampton and had a twin who died before birth.

Sophie told The Telegraph that she grew up in a large Edwardian house near Leamington Spa, describing her youth she said:

"My childhood was pretty fun. We had pigsties, barns and a paddock, and used to muck around in the mud."

Showing she had talent early in her career, Sophie's breakout role as Sansa Stark was also her professional acting debut.

She was just 13 years old when she was given the part.

Since then, Sophie has worked hard to develop her career beyond Westeros, and starred in 2016 blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse as the young Jean Grey - a leading character in the franchise.

She also took on the leading roles in Josie and X-Men: Dark Phoenix which was released on February 5, 2019.

What happened to her character, Sansa Stark, on Game of Thrones?

Sophie has had to pull out all the stops in the seven seasons that have currently aired of the HBO smash hit, and she is sure to be tested even more by the time the show comes to an end.

As the eldest daughter of the Stark clan, the primped and proper Sansa enjoyed "ladylike" hobbies and dreamed of being married to a prince.

However, several seasons later, the young Stark has been beaten and raped by her second husband, Ramsey Bolton, and has become a fighter thanks to her eagerness to survive and reunite with her family.

After being reunited with her half-brother Jon Snow, the pair rode together to initiate the fight against Ramsey and his Army, creating the most epic fight of the show so far, The Battle of the Bastards.

Jon Snow succeeded in his fight and Sansa was able to get revenge on the man that had hurt her most, who is left to be eaten alive by his own dogs.

Snow is proclaimed the 'King of the North'

In season 7 Sansa is left as regent after Jon travels to Dragonstone to convince Daenerys Targaryen to support the White Walkers.

Bran (as the Three Eyed Raven) and Arya return to Winterfell and Littlefinger jumps on the opportunity to try to play the estranged sisters against each other.

But unfortunately for him his plan backfires as the Stark sisters unite, realising they're a more formidable force together.

Sophie has admitted to crying "for hours and hours" after filming Sansa's final scenes for season eight.

When did Game of Thrones season 8 premiere?

Game of Thrones season 8 started in the UK on Monday April 15 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.

The final series was the shortest in Game of Thrones' history with just six episodes, following on from the seven in season seven.

Although the show may have come to an end, the creator George R.R. Martin revealed he would have liked the show to continue for several more years.

“We could’ve gone 11, 12, 13 seasons," he told “David and Dan have been saying for like five seasons that seven seasons is all they would go. We got them to go to eight but not any more than that.

"There was a period like five years ago when they were saying seven seasons and I was saying 10 seasons and they won, they’re the ones actually working on it.”
