She wrote alongside them: "It breaks my heart to say that on Friday we lost my beautiful uncle Steve.

"I often shared photos and stories with you all on here about him because I simply adored him. Everybody did.

"The smartest and funniest soul you could ever wish to have in your company. Always sharing his talents and love for music, cooking, hiking and writing. Just a few of many. He appreciated every single day he was here, his zest and enthusiasm for life was infectious.

"I am truly blessed and honoured to have some of my most treasured memories with you Uncle Steve aka ‘Uncle Beef’, The Mountain Man. The light of our lives. I love you so much and I will miss you beyond belief. May you live on through the music and the mountains.

"Rest easy my wonderful Uncle Beef."

Friends and followers sent their condolences in their droves.

Vicky Pattison commented: "So sorry em, sending my condolences to you and your family."

A fan said: "Cherish all those wonderful memories that you made together."

Another wrote: "Emily, big hugs and love at this sad time."

Emily is very close to her family, particularly mum Kate and dad Keith.

Kate had a number two hit on the British charts with her song More Than In Love and starred in the soap opera Crossroads.

However, she is best known for her long stint in the political satire show Spitting Image, which focused on parodying major figures in the 1980s.

Keith was a member of the 1970s pop group Child, starting out as the bassist before switching over to guitar.

After the success of Child, Keith went on to become a session musician for the likes of David Cassidy, Rick Astley and Bonnie Tyler in the 1980s.
