Within seconds of the door being closed, Scarlett began to weep in fear, before forcing herself to regain her composure.

It began with Ant and Dec congratulating Scarlett on getting to the final.

Asked what it would mean to her to be crowned Queen of the Jungle Scarlett said: “As a kid, this will come as a surprise to you, I’ve always been a bit weird and I wasn’t accepted in a lot of social groups so I feel that if I won I would be showing my little sister that it doesn’t matter you can just be you.”

Dec said: “It’s the biggest vote of confidence for you as a person just being yourself in there.”

Describing what laid ahead for her, Dec told a scared looking Scarlett that she was headed to the Cavern of Claws. She would go into the cavern, lie on her back and the tiny cave would be sealed. She had five minutes to find the five stars in there for three deserts, a drink and a treat for herself.
Ant said: “We know you have a real phobia of this.”

“I can feel myself getting upset. But I feel if I can do this I might finally be able to go in lifts because I was on the 34th floor out here and I walked the stairs because I can’t stand small spaces.”

Scarlett entered the small cave and laid on her back in the darkness, but struggled to keep a handle on her emotions as she broke down in tears.

She was sealed in and her time started. As she reached to the cavern ceiling she bagged her first star. As water was poured in beneath her 3,000 meal worms were dropped on her head and she then found her second star as several rats joined her.

With a minute gone she found her third star while cockroaches and crickets were being poured on her. She was whimpering and tearful as she found the fourth star and was scared by the rats around her neck. She couldn’t find the fifth star at first but with rats crawling all over her, she retrieved it and was pulled out of the cave.
