The soap legend is coming back at Christmas but she's not going to have an easy ride

TOYAH Battersby’s return to Coronation Street is going to be one of the character’s most dramatic story lines to date.

After making plans with her sister Leanne in Liverpool, Toyah suddenly appears on the street and reveals she’s split with her husband after he discovered she was having an affair.

Leanne’s shock is obvious as her little sister suddenly appears looking distressed and downbeat.

Toyah, played by Georgia Taylor, appears to be settling back into the street fine but it all goes awry after her husband Tony turns up.

Despite her infidelity, Tony is desperate to get his wife back and makes a scene while begging her to return to him.

In desperation, he even suggests trying for a baby to help them overcome their marriage problems but Toyah is having none of it.

Leanne, played by Jane Danson, struggles to keep her nose out and is soon pressing Toyah for more details – but just how much will she reveal?

Toyah left the Weatherfield in 2003 after starting an affair with her university tutor only for him to cheat on her with Maria Connor.

Speaking ahead of her return, Georgia said: “I am thrilled to be rejoining my old friends on the cobbles.

“Coronation Street has always had a place in my heart and I’m delighted to be working again with my good friend Jane Danson and bringing the Battersby sisters back together.

“The scriptwriters and producers have come up with some fantastic, clever and detailed storylines that have inspired me and I feel excited to get started.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
