You’ll never guess what the kid from Jerry Maguire looks like now, as actor Jonathan Lipnicki reveals dramatic transformation
The actor shot to fame as a child star in the hit movie, but he looks very different now
ACTOR Jonathan Lipnicki has transformed since his days playing the Jerry Maguire kid 20 years ago.
And now aged 26, he has revealed he almost missed the chance to play his most iconic role.
Appearing on this week, Jonathan said he nearly missed the chance to play cute kid Ray Boyd, alongside co-stars Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger.
"I actually read for it and then they cast someone else," he told the show.
He admitted his agent eventually "begged" for them to reconsider, before they finally chose to give him another chance.
"They shot two weeks with the other kid and it wasn't working out so they went to recast it and my agent begged for them to see me again," he admitted.
"They flew me out to Arizona where they were shooting a bunch of the football scenes with Cuba [Gooding Jr.] and I read for Tom and [director] Cameron [Crowe] in Tom's trailer and I got the part."
The star, who also appeared in Stuart Little as a youngster, also gushed about working with Tom, and added: "I haven't talked to him in quite a while now but whenever I have reached out in the past, he's been nothing but extremely kind and has given me great advice in my career."
After starring in the childhood films, Jonathan has undergone quite the transformation.
He has since taken big roles in Indy films including Loserville and KANE.
He has also got a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is trained in martial arts.
Sharing snaps on his ever-growing social media profiles, Jonathan has shocked fans with his grown up features and huge muscles.
He's come a lot way from Jerry Maguire now, and just months ago, he released a video for his on-screen dad Tom's brithday.
“I’m here to thank you Jerry Maguire,” he said sarcastically in the clip, “from drunkenly brooding on my mum’s couch having a nervous breakdown, to dropping completely unnecessary F-bombs when I wanted to go to the zoo.
“Sure you weren’t my real dad, but you loved me anyway. So much so that you hastily married my mum all because of my overwhelming cuteness.”
He then went on to launch into an F-bomb rant, saying: “Everybody still thinks of me as the cute kid from Jerry Maguire," he said.
“Never mind that I’m a talented, classically trained adult actor capable of playing a wide variety of roles.”
