What time is Extraordinary Weddings on ITV tonight and what is it about?

The heartwarming series follows six couples who have defied all the odds to walk down the aisle

IT’S supposed to be the most special day of every betrothed couple’s life, but for some couples, their wedding day also proved to be the most challenging.

In the new series, which started on ITV last week, six couples defy all the odds and overcome huge difficulties in order to make it down the aisle to say “I do”.

Extraordinary Weddings follows their inspirational stories and the events that led them to their big day – and here’s what we know about them.

What is Extraordinary Couples all about?

The three-part series follows six couples from across the UK who have faced terrible and life-changing challenges as they started their lives together.

Yet despite the difficulties, some of which tested their faith and made them face an uncertain future, they finally got to tie the knot with the love of their lives.

From the woman who was left paralysed after a freak accident, to the man who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, these couples proved to the world that love really does conquer all.

Who are the couples and what challenges did they face?

In the first episode, viewers met Nick and Sophie from Cambridgeshire, the couple were searching for their perfect first home together when Nick was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that left him without his sight.

But despite his disability, Nick maintains“It’s still a normal relationship where you help each other out but we’ve just got a bit more on our plate.”

In one episode, we meet Carly and Nelly from Newquay who were house-hunting when Carly fell off a wall and was left paralysed for life.

It was a diagnosis that left her and her family bereft, but her boyfriend Nelly was certain that while life would change, one thing wouldn’t – his love for her.

Four other amazing couples, including Will and Amy, who had to retrain Will’s brain to remember short term memories and Ian and Karen who suffered a stroke, will share their stories over the next two weeks.

When is the show on and which channel?

Extraordinary Weddings resumes tonight on ITV at 9pm.

The third episode airs on December 22.

All three episodes will be available on the ITV Hub shortly after broadcast.
