IT PROVED to be a huge success after it debuted on Amazon Prime Video in January 2015 and went on to win two Emmy Awards.
For fans of The Man in The High Castle the wait is over as the second series starts tonight.
What is the show all about? Here’s what we know.
What is The Man in The High Castle about?
The Amazon Prime original series is about an alternative history of the world where the Axis powers – Germany, Italy and Japan – won World War II.
Set in the United States in 1962, the nation has been divided into three parts: Japanese Pacific States, a Nazi puppet state and the Neutral Zone – the Rocky Mountains - which acts as a buffer between the other two.
Africa is now a wasteland, the Mediterranean Sea has been drained to be used as farmland and the powers-that-be are trying to stop the distribution of a book that everyone is reading – The Grasshopper Lies – which is an alternative history book in which the Allies won the war.
Who’s in the cast?
The main characters are Juliana Crain, played by Alexa Davalos, a woman from San Francisco who is happy living under Japanese control.
British actor Rupert Evans stars as Juliana’s boyfriend Frank Frink who works in a factory creating fake pre-war antiques that are sold on to Japanese collectors. He has to keep his Jewish faith under wraps so he doesn’t face execution.
DJ Qualls stars as Frank’s friend and co-worker Ed McCarthy and Rufus Sewell stars as John Smith an SS Obergruppenfuhrer who is investigating the Resistance in New York.
Despite being a natural-born American, it’s implied that he embraced Nazism because he grew up in poverty because of the Great Depression.
The executive producer of the show is legendary film director and producer Ridley Scott.
The second series of The Man in the High Castle starts on Amazon Prime Video tonight
