TJ Miller shocks with grisly ear wound on red carpet at GQ Awards with model wife Kate Gorney
The eccentric star sported a safety pin and large gash to promote gory festive film Office Christmas Party, starring Jennifer Aniston, in LA
TJ Miller turned up to the GQ Men of the Year Awards smeared with blood.
The actor and comedian, 35, made the red carpet even redder with a safety pin and grisly gash in his left ear.
TJ's actress and model wife Kate Gorney appeared unfazed as she posed for the cameras, seemingly unaware the blood had seeped down his neck and onto his lapel and trousers.
But it turns out TJ was not injured after all.
He had enlisted the help of a make-up artist to promote new film Office Christmas Party at the LA event.
The flick — starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn and Alexa Chung — features gory festive-themed fight scenes including a flaming Christmas tree joust.
Yesterday TJ also appeared on the Conan O'Brien chat show sporting the same wound, prompting shocked fans to take to Twitter to find out whether it was real.
No doubt TJ is tempting fate, with the actor having revealed that he was nearly hospitalised for being overzealous during one of his scenes.
with co-star Courtney B. Vance, he admitted: "I really went for it and I needed an IV bag because I was rapping so much in the Santa suit, which I don't know if you know this but Santa suits are designed to be worn in the winter time.
"It's not an injury but I just became so dehydrated rapping for 8-12 hours in a Santa suit with a vest that had $300,000 cash on it, which either is part of the movie or just something I do when I'm acting, I keep $300,000 cash so that I can leave the country at any moment."
TJ has also starred in the films Cloverfield (2008), Yogi Bear, How To Train Your Dragon (2010), Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) and 2016 Marvel hit Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds.
Thursday's GQ Men of the Year awards took place at the Chateau Marmont in LA.
