Five After Midnight ELIMINATED from X Factor as Matt Terry and Saara Aalto make it to the grand finale
FIVE After Midnight have been eliminated from The X Factor.
The three strong band - made up of Kieran Alleyne, Jordan Lee and Nathan Lewis - were sent home from the competition after losing the public vote to Matt Terry and Saara Aalto.
Saara became the first act to be confirmed as in the final, leaving Matt and the boyband.
"It's been the best experience ever, there's been so much love, I can't thank you enough," the band said.
"I'm glad we came third, how many people can say they were in the finals?" they added on The Xtra Factor.
Meanwhile Matt and Saara were exploding with joy about their winning places in the grande finale.
"I honestly did not expect to hear my name so thank you," said Matt.
"I'm just so grateful, I can't believe people are voting for me," added Saara.
Earlier in the show the X Factor class of 2016 - led by Honey G - returned to the stage to perform a storming version of Little Mix's hit song Shoutout to My Ex.
Five After Midnight took to the stage first to perform a version of Beyonce's Crazy in Love, sadly without Beyonce, before Matt Terry stunned with his version of Jess Glynne's Take Me Home.
After his performance Sharon Osbourne lauded it as dramatic before Simon told him he'd 'done good' and then the show showed a montage of all of Matt's flirting with mentor Nicole Scherzinger.
Finnish songstress Saara Aalto was the final of the three to take to the stage with Coldplay's Rule the World for her first song.
Louis Walsh gushed over Saara's work ethic and her talent calling her 'an incredible artist', thoughts echoed by Nicole Scherzinger who said there was nothing she couldn't do.
"Bold? It was brilliant," added Simon. "You have the ability Saara, when you're on a big stage, you get bigger. You've got star power."
Later on Five After Midnight sang with reigning X Factor champion Louisa Johnson and Clean Bandit, Matt Terry got to perform with Nicole and Saara Aalto took to the stage with Adam Lambert.
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson returned to the show with an emotional performance dedicated to his mum.
The singer took to the stage with his new single at tonight's show in honour of his late mum Johannah Deakin with an emotional performance on The X Factor.
As he finished his performance he looked up and sent a kiss up to his mum.
After his performance, Simon Cowell spoke to Louis and told him how proud his mum would be of him.
"Louis, I have to say something to you, what you've just done, and the bravery, I respect you as an artist and as a person.
"Your mum was so proud of you Louis,. She was so looking forward to tonight and she's looking down on you."
The One Direction star took to the stage on the show on Saturday night to perform Just Hold On in tribute to his beloved mum after she died aged 43 on Wednesday.
Louis won a standing ovation for his performance with a huge applause from the judges and the audience.
While the star hasn't officially confirmed that the song is about his mum Johannah, the lyrics have become a poignant tribute to her after it was announced she had passed away on Wednesday aged just 43.
The lyrics read: "Oh until it's all been said / It's not over until your dying breath / So what do you want them to say when you're gone? /That you gave up or that you kept going on?
"What do you do when a chapter ends? / Do you close the book and never read it again? / Where do you go when your story's done?
"You can be who you want or you'll become / If it all goes wrong / Darling just hold on"
Louis and his family released a statement regarding Johannah's passing early Wednesday morning that read: “It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday 7th December 2016.
“Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.
“We respectfully request that the family are given time and space to grieve in private.”
As well as Louis she leaves behind six other children, Lottie, 18, Felicite, 16, twins Daisy and Phoebe, both 12, and twins Ernest and Doris, both aged two, who she gave birth to prematurely in 2014.
She was also a grandmother to Louis’ first child Freddie, who his ex Briana Jungwirth gave birth to earlier this year.
Her husband Dan said in a statement: “I thoroughly loved walking through life with her, and though five years was far too short a time, during that time we had so many lifetimes worth of happiness, adventures, and memories.
“We would like to send our sincere thanks to Professor Steve Mackinnon and his team at University College London Hospital where Johannah was hospitalised since May.
“And during the last few weeks Professor John Snowden and his colleagues at Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield.”
