Yet during his celebrations, fans quickly took to Twitter to speculate he enjoyed a kiss with fellow show star Freddy Parker during a group hug.

During today's Good Morning Britain, host Piers Morgan quizzed Matt about the intense attention from female fans and older women "throwing themselves" at him.

Giggling, the Bromley lad said: "Of course - it's so much fun.

Piers then interjected and said: "There's been marriage proposals," to which Matt added: "I've said yes to every one on Twitter - why not?!"

Bursting into fits of giggles he told co-host Susanna Reid he had requests to be fans' husbands "throughout the day".

The singer from Bromley won the recording contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco after beating Finnish songstress Saara Aalto to the title last night.

Eagle-eyed fans believe they saw the pair hug and kiss as they were swarmed by this year’s contestants just moments after he was crowned winner.

But an X Factor rep has denied the pair shared a kiss and shut down speculation the cameraman veered away from them.

Those watching at home took to Twitter to comment on the ‘moment’ , with one writing: "Did Matt just kiss Freddy?"

While another one added: "Did Matt and Freddy having a cheeky wee snog?"

Matt, 23 and Freddy, 18, made up two thirds of Nicole Scherzinger’s boys category and grew close during their time on the show.

On today's ITV breakfast show, Matt also heaped high praise on former 1D star Louis Tomlinson after the singer performed his debut solo track just days after the tragic death of his mother Johannah Deakin from leukaemia aged just 43 .

Talking of Louis' bravery on Saturday night he said: "It was an honour to see him up there.

"I don't know if I could have done it.

"How brave he was to sing that song and dedicate it to his mum."

After his win on yesterday's two-hour final Matt said: "Thank you so much everybody."

"You came into this final as good artists, you ended as great artists," said Simon Cowell. "What I promise you Matt, we will give you one hundred percent, you deserve this opportunity."

"I'm just so happy for Matt, I love you," said Saara just before Matt was sent onto the stage to perform the winner's single which was written by Ed Sheeran.

The song, When Christmas Comes Around, is a festive-themed ballad and was co-written by Amy Wadge just two weeks ago before being sent to Simon Cowell for consideration.
