Over 1000 people sign a petition to bring back Claudia Frangapane for the Strictly Come Dancing final after fans blame technical hitch for her being voted out
Petition gained a huge number of signatures in just four hours
A petition demanding Claudia Fragapane be reinstated for the Strictly Come Dancing final has been signed over 1000 times.
A fan created the account after he claims he was unable to vote for Claudia or Danny Mac – who later both ended up in the dance off – due a technical glitch.
On Sunday night, The Sun Online revealed fans of the BBC dancing show were furious after the problem meant some fans couldn’t get through.
In a statement on the night, the BBC said: “Apologies, we had a slight technical error at the start of the Vote. If you had problems, please try again. The Vote is open until 20.40.”
After the results show some viewers went online to vent their wrath after Claudia was booted off.
Others begged for her to be reinstated, with one tweeting: “I think you should let all four couples go through because of the technical phone problems – it isn’t fair on the couples.”
Now some of Claudia’s die-hard fans are trying another tact and have created a petition to try and sway the decision.
It reads: “The semi-finals saw fan-favourites Claudia and AJ eliminated after a dance-off with Danny Mac. While it's sad that they left the competition, it's the context in which it happened that really bothers us.
“There was a technical glitch with the 30 minute voting window, where fans couldn't get through to vote for Claudia or Danny (I know, I tried!).”
They ended their statement by imploring Strictly bosses to bring Claudia back, writing: “This is a competition open to the public.
“We call for the usual four Person Final (and Claudia) to return so we can make the decision for ourselves!”
The number of signatures is rising by the hour, with over 1000 people now having signed up to support Olympic star Claudia.
It's not the first scandal to hit the show following the semi final results.
On Sunday night, fans accused judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood of over marking Ore Oduba.
The BBC sports presenter leapfrogged Claudia, Danny and Louise Redknapp to the top of the leader board after his dance.
Former Strictly professional James Jordan, 38, believes the judges have deliberately favoured Ore because he is a BBC star.
He told The Sun: “I’ve said for the last eight weeks that they’ve tried to push Ore. I don’t know why — maybe because he’s a BBC presenter?
“It’s clearly wrong. His dance was definitely not a ten, I would have given him a nine.”
James later tweeted his fans and told them he wouldn't be watching anymore.
He said: “There is just one more thing I would like to say…..
“I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED STRICTLY…But I will no longer be watching.
“Some people will say bitter, but I can’t watch something I feel is unfair.”
Speaking about show favourite Danny, James added: “One last thing….. I guarantee Danny will NOT win!!!
“But they needed him in the final because he’s the best by far Will periscope soon.”
He later added: “Claudia not doing the Strictly Tour #justsaying”.
